Suzuki method

The Orchestras

Two student orchestras will be formed during the Convention in which the more advanced students will participate

Lyric-Symphonic Orchestra

The Lyric-Symphonic Orchestra will be conducted by a well-known orchestra conductor and will work on pieces drawn from the repertoire of Italian lyric operas by Puccini, Verdi, Mascagni, Rossini, Cimarosa and others.
Guest singers will participate as soloists in the orchestra program.

The Lyric Symphonic Orchestra will be composed of violins, violas, cellos, double bass, flute, and harp as follows:

  • Violin, Book 7 and up
  • Viola, Book 5 and up
  • Cello, Book 6 and up
  • Double Bass, Book 4 and up
  • Flute, Book 7 and up
  • Harp, Book 4 and up

Plucked Strings Orchestra

The plucked strings Orchestra (“Orchesta a Pizzico”) will work on pieces transcribed for this specific ensemble. Works from the Italian lyric opera repertoire will be also included in the program.

The Plucked Strings Orchestra will be composed of guitars, harps, and mandolins as follows:

  • Guitars, Book 3 and up
  • Harp, Book 3 and up
  • Mandolin, Book 3 and up

Parts and Repertoire for the Orchestras

The parts for the orchestral repertoire will be sent to the students after registration has been completed.

The students of the levels that have been cited above will participate in the rehearsals and Final Concert of the convention as well as in the orchestral concert. They must prepare, in addition to the orchestral repertoire, the Suzuki repertoire that will be performed at the Final Concert.
